Privacy Policy

gura is a meal, weight, and fasting tracker built to be private by default. This policy explains what we do — and mostly do not — collect.

1. Your health data stays on your device

The meals, weights, fasting, and notes you log are stored locally on your device. By default they are never sent to us or to anyone else. You can use the entire app without an account.

2. If you choose to create an account

Signing in is optional. If you do, we use Google Firebase Authentication to manage your login. The only personal data this involves is your email address, used solely to identify your account and send password-reset emails.

3. If you turn on cloud sync

Cloud sync is opt-in. When enabled, your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves, and only stored as opaque encrypted snapshots tied to your account. We cannot read the contents of a synced snapshot.

4. Usage analytics

To understand how gura is used and make it better, we collect a small amount of anonymous product-analytics data through PostHog. This records app events such as opening the app, completing onboarding, logging a meal (a count only), viewing the upgrade screen, and completing a purchase. These events never include the content of your logs — no food names, weights, notes, or fasting details are ever sent. The data is tied to a random identifier (or, if you sign in, your account identifier), is never sold, and is never used for advertising.

5. Food database

Food searches and barcode lookups are sent to gura's own food database (hosted at gu-ra.com) and, when a match is not found there, to the Open Food Facts database, to fetch nutrition information. These requests contain only the food name or barcode you look up — never your weight, meals history, or identity.

You can clear local data from within the app at any time. If you created an account, you can request deletion of your account and any synced data by contacting us.
